This course introduces educators and support professionals to the diverse experiences of Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and DeafBlind (DHHDB) students. Participants will explore the fluid nature of hearing identity, the role of family dynamics in educational experiences, language deprivation, and the wide variation within the DHHDB learner population.
Through this training, learners will gain a stronger foundation for understanding that there is no single way to be Deaf, hard of hearing, or DeafBlind, and no one-size-fits-all approach to education. The course encourages inclusive, respectful, and responsive practices that recognize each student’s unique communication preferences, needs, and educational journey.
