APSEA Educational Deaf Interpreter (EDI) Professional Development Series

The Educational Deaf Interpreter (EDI) Professional Development Series includes eight self-paced online courses designed to support Educational Deaf Interpreters, educators, and other professionals working with Deaf and DeafBlind students in K-12 educational settings.

The series explores key topics including audiology, Deaf community and culture, language and child development, inclusive education, the role of the Educational Deaf Interpreter, and effective educational practices that support Deaf and DeafBlind learners.

ELIGIBILITY: Access to these courses is available exclusively to APSEA staff and eligible educators within Atlantic Canada. Users with an @apsea.ca email address or a recognized Atlantic Canadian school board email domain will be automatically enrolled in this learning series after signing in.

NOTE: These courses include examples, policies, roles, and practices specific to APSEA and schools in Atlantic Canada. However, the knowledge and strategies presented throughout the series are relevant and can be applied by Educational Deaf Interpreters, educators, and other professionals in a variety of educational settings.

ATTENTION: Please note that no formal certificates or professional credentials will be issued for completing these professional development courses. However, you will receive a Recognition of Completion for each course you successfully complete.
