101 Introduction to Literacy

Deaf Literacy Initiative offers this course for practitioners and managers of Deaf and DeafBlind literacy programs, as well as those who are interested in becoming literacy practitioners. DLI 101 will cover the following topics:

definition of literacy
introduction to the adult literacy system in Ontario
introduction to the Deaf and DeafBlind stream in Ontario
general principles of adult education
practitioners’ role
resources and support available to literacy practitioners

DLI 101 is the first course of three courses leading to the Deaf Literacy Initiative’s Level 1 Certification.
